The holiday's were very busy for my online store....didn't even have time to decorate much...winter is here now with lots of snow and I love how everything looks all white and sparkly....the deer have been coming in the yard to feed on the apples on the ground under the trees... the field was full of deer and wild turkeys yesterday an awesome sight....

Fall on the Farm

I love fall on the farm the smell of leaves, the cool crisp air, the smell of the apples on the trees......our sheep are getting very fuzzy I love their fuzzy teddy bear faces when they are in full fleece.....life is good!!!:0)

seperation anxiety

We seperated our lamb Buster from his mom and the other girls as he is growing up and fall is when a young ram's fancy is the ladies.....the first day was bad poor thing cried...but today was a little better I have been giving him lots of attention but it always breaks my heart when we have to seperate them.....:0(

Just Another Day In Paradise

Today was a great sunny day. I cleaned out the outside shower and got to take my first shower outside of the season. There is nothing like showering under the sun and blue skies. Planted lettuce and the sheep were all out grazing on the growth of grass after all the rain we have had the last while. No lambs yet and the poor ewes are lumbering around under the girth of the babies. I hope they have them soon. Ed is now on two weeks off from work for lambing and we hoping to get some things done in the yard and around the house. Cleaning stalls too that is really fun...

What a glorious day today. I am going to be spending the entire day outside mowing lawn and working in the gardens. After a rough winter the sunshine and flowers are a welcome sight.

all the critters are having a siesta in this warm weather. They haven't been sheared yet so this weather is warm for them...the 3 pregnant ewes are very big I think we will have lambs soon...

Beautiful and sunshiny today and it is only going to get better it is suppose to be 80 this weekend. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our lambs. I can't wait!!!

Bright sunshiny day today and the pregnant ewes are out in the pasture while Ed is cleaning thier stalls. They are loving the sun and snacking on the grass that is popping up in the pasture. Good to see after such a long winter.

Two of our ewes are showing definite signs of pregnancy so a few more weeks and we will have lambs. I can't wait this is one of my favorite times of the year. You know it is spring when you hold a little snuggly lamb in your arms.

Spring Is Coming

Spring is coming I just know it and so is the mud. We had some warm days this week and the snow is gone and the mud is here. This has been a long winter and spring will be very welcome. Can't wait to get the sheep out into the pasture. Hopefully we will have lambs as Ely was with the girls for a few weeks before he became ill so hopefully at least one of them is pregnant as lambs are one of the best parts of spring on the farm.

Sadly our ram Ely passed away after we thought he was making a recovery. He was the first lamb we purchased for the farm and he has fathered many beautiful lambs here on the farm. He will be missed.

Sick Ram Doing Much Better

Our Ram Ely was very ill after a reaction from penicillan he had for an abcess on his chest. Thanks to our wonderful vet Dr. Tim he came quickly and gave Ely some injections and he has really come around. Back to his old self now eating and chasing the girls.

Busy days on the farm

This is a very busy time on the farm trying to get everybody ready for the winter and it is also breeding time so we have to give everyone vaccinations and wurm medicine and hoof trimming before they get pregnant. I did a craft show in freeland last weekend and my mother in law came to help we had a very nice weekend snow and cold so we watched a lot of chick flicks to Ed's dismay. I have decided to do another show the Friday and Saturday after thanksgiving so I will be very busy the next week trying to get everything ready.

Autumn is in full swing on the farm. We just got back from vacation and we had a great time in the Poconos. The leaves were turning as we left and it was gorgeous in the mountains. Trying to catch up with the bounty of the garden and getting ready to do a show on Thursday. Animals are all doing well.

Everything in the garden is starting to ripen and I love this time of year. Nothing like fresh veggies. Our fruit trees are so full I think the limbs are going to break. I have been picking pears for the last couple of days. The pigs are loving the ones I pick up off the ground.

When closing up things outside tonight at about 9:00 I went around the corner and there staring at me were two deer on the outside of the fence around my garden.
They just stared at me . I called ed over and went to get the camera. We had put up fence around the garden and they jumped that so ed put string above that but he watched them jump between the fence and string and when I got back they were in the garden munching away. I walked almost to the fence before they left. They are getting very bold it was still daylight.

The three little pigs came today and they are very cute and very colorful.
They are very happy to have grass, sunshine, a piggy condo and swimming pool because
they came from a pig farm where there are hundreds in one area in a barn.

I have a large order for soap for a bridal shower so that will keep me busy for a while also going to do a farmers market on July 26 in my hometown Unionville. That should be fun. I finally got to pick the berries last night. Ed relocated the lost bees to their new home. Going to make jam today. I love it when things start to ripen. I have peppers and tomatoes on in the garden. Can't wait for home grown tomatoes. The best!!!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. The weather has been beautiful.
The sheep and lambs are loving the weather. We have inherited a hive of bees
from somewhere who moved into empty soupers by our garage. Ed moved them last night while they were sleeping. I went out this morning and some of the bees were where
the soupers use to be looking for their home. I have been trying to pick my black raspberries by the garage but I think I will wait for the bees to calm down.

Tonight when I went out to feed the goats were in the barn in the stall where our three young ewes usually are with the gate open and the ewes were in the attached builing where the goats usually are. Goats are amazingly agile and clever. I usually put a clip on the door latch and must have forgotten. How they managed to get the girls gate open I will never know. Goats are the most entertaining and exasperating creatures I know of. Live and learn......

Another beautiful day on the way suppose to get up to 80 today. I let the moms and babies out into pasture right away this morning. The babies are getting so big.
I am going to work in the garden today as all the heat and rain is not only good for the vegetables but even better for the weeds. Suppose to be very nice for the fourth of July this weekend. Yeah!!!!!

Today was one of those perfect weather days not too hot but sunny and very warm.
My sister Rose and her grandkids Molly and Hunter came to visit today. We spent some time with the sheep and went down to the nursery to buy some plants. Very good day on the farm but I will sleep good tonight. Have a great evening everyone.

Haltering Training for the Boys

Yesterday Ed took the boys out for walks on halter. Ely has been doing it for years our original ram but our other two Ace & Roo are still learning but doing better. Roo is the youngest and I worked with him a little bit. He still is still a little wilder than the other two but getting much better. The picture is of Ely having a snack during halter walk.

This afternoon we gave two of our rams a bath and it was quite an experience.
They weren't quite sure if they liked it or not. The sun is shining bright and there are big puffy white cotton candy clouds in the sky today. Awesome. Now we have to fluffy white rams to go with the clouds. They look great and squeeky clean.

The rain has stopped and now it is very hot and humid. Going out after this to put sheep into the pasture. They will probably spend most of there time in the shade as
it is just too darn hot to move around much. Thankfully there is a nice breeze today. Lots of work to do today so I've got to get going. Have a great day and try to stay cool.

Rainy days on the farm. The garden likes it but the critters and the people on this farm not so much. Things get muddy and dingy looking when it rains not my favorite but necessary for life on the farm. I am hoping it will warm up enough to dry things out so the sheep and goats can get out into the pasture.

I took the sheep out to the back pasture where there is no shade today to graze for
awhile but it is very hot so we headed back in to the pasture near the barn where there is a great shade tree. I am now inside in the airconditioning trying to cool down. I kinda like the 70s we've had for the last while but the plants in the garden will love the heat.

I just came in from feeding and everyone is very loud this morning they must have been very hungry. Today is going to be very warm 87, so my biggest chore for the day will be keeping everyone cool. My baby lambs are getting big and are very cute. I have been hand feeding them so they follow me around like puppies. This is the first year I have had the time to do this and the pay off has been great. When our friends and family bring their children over the lambs are very friendly. It's getting to be a petting zoo around here.
